Here is a great clip from an American TV show called The Newsroom. It shows the polar opposites of how some Americans view themselves and the world they live in.
Seriously, what do Americans think of the great continent of Europe filled with old historic cities and of course Britain the ''motherland''
post your thoughts
I've been to Europe twice and enjoyed both trips immensely. Most Americans trace their ancestry to Europe, so it holds a special place for millions of us.
That was 2003. Seems like the vacation-loving, superior-to-Americans-in-every-way Europeans have a penchant for leaving their glorious socialized medicine/elder care apparatus woefully understaffed come beach and sun time. Predictable end result of minds that embrace the socialist ideology -- "the government will take care of it." The government didn't.
Yes, that was in 2003, and no one there blamed the government for not preventing people from getting a heat stroke or a heart attack. Where are you getting your ideas? A lot of European elders choose to live at home, as opposed to nursing homes, or hooked up to life support, and they are well aware that they will actually die one day.

You've let alien peoples invade your lands; your countries are light years more expensive for just about everything; your governments are so far left it's disturbing; but your lands are so beautiful, and my ancestors are from there, so there's that. That's how I see it anyway.
It's rare that Americans look objectively at their own country. As a Canadian who has travelled to the U.S. a lot and has American relatives I have a pretty good idea on how some react if you start to question the myth. Here is a great clip from an American TV show called The Newsroom. It shows the polar opposites of how some Americans view themselves and the world they live in.
Well the USA must be pretty good because a whole lot of people gladly leave their own countries to come and live here. We have by far more immigrants than any other nation on the planet.
^^Agreed! I don't think it's real, either. I think it was filmed as a propaganda piece. It is not common for people on US TV to use the "f" word.
Real? I stated it was from a TV show, The Newsroom. If it's on Cable then yes the "f" word is used. The statements the character makes about the U.S. not being number one though ARE real.

If you look at the percentage of immigrants by country you will find that the U.S. has 12.8 percent of citizens being foreign born. If you look at Canada the percentage is 18.7.
If you compare the qualifications to enter either country you will see it's much more difficult to get into Canada. This is a good thing.
The whole point of me posting the video was to show how people react when the myth that the U.S. is number one is challenged. Judging from the comments here, it's clear some of you still have your heads in the sand.
You can't take criticism. Do some research and see that what the character says in this TV show is basically true. That is the point of the post. Wake up America.
