As an alaskan, I would say that like most alaskans, we don't buy that. Sarah sold out our state.

Alaskans are very aware of why Palin got the governship- Frank Murkowski was an arrogant somethingorother & democrat Tony Knowles could not get the republican support. She was the perfect storm, pun intended. She studied well for the debate, since Alaskan debatable issues are pretty well-known.

She had off-the-chart ratings because she gave us, every man/woman/child, an approx $1200 energy rebate spreading the wealth, on top of our regular permanent fund dividend of approx $1800. Folks were smiling in line at Costco & Best Buy with their new big screens & such. Folks from the bush came to town to shop.

The Branchflower Report, in which investigators found that firing Monegan "was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority," but that Palin abused her power as governor and violated the state's Executive Branch Ethics Act when her office pressured Monegan to fire Wooten. Palin then had another investigation that found her innocent. Alaskans are not stupid and besides, those on the inside knew that Palin was vicious & vindictive regarding anyone who crosses her.

We also have seen how Palin has morphed from a moderate spreading around the wealth to the sweetheart of the ultra-conservative right. Her ratings in AK started to plummet.

After we all listened to her disjointed & rambling resignation speech her ratings plummeted.

Sarah Palin is a phony. She is a chameleon who is changing her colors to fit the $$$$$. I loved how she is now dressing like a skinny rock star! Quite a change from Juneau LOL! After the scary run-for-vp & flirt with presidential run, you are now entertainment all the way!

Karl Rove Slams Sarah Palin After CPAC Speech - Business Insider
Oh so you were watching Chris also. I actually thought it was pretty funny on both sides: like you, I am not in love with either of them. I do think, she is in the right spot, she is a good speaker and almost a comedian, but I am glad she isn't our VP and he really got a good one in.

In fact I enjoyed the entire program today (I usually do) I think a lot of good points were made; I am a little upset with all these sub groups trying to make sure we get the type of candidates in 2014 and 2016 they think would be the best for the party. We need one group, we need to consentrate on getting the best candidates and ones that won't sell our values to the highest bidder but will know when to back off a little. I, for one and I never thought I would say this, have about had it with the "TeaParty" I do believe in what they stand for, but when, in order to get the support of the group a candidate has to promise never to raise taxes I am beside myself. Not to mention some of the those supported have been horrible choices: DE, IN and MO come to my mind. I don't think the NV choice was all that awful, I just think Reid is almost unbeatable.

If that's the case, then he's not doing such a hot job, since he won reelection by 4 points, the R's lost a seat in the Senate when they should have picked up three, and lost 8 seats in the House.

Karl Rove's New Super PAC Is a Win-Win for Democrats - Brad Bannon (usnews.com)

Quote:
If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result, it's time to prescribe massive doses of Prozac for Karl Rove, the Koch brothers, and the people gullible enough to fork over millions of dollars to Republican and conservative super PACs. Rove's donors remind me of the proverb that a fool and his money are soon parted.

After squandering hundreds of millions of dollars on super PACs during the 2012 campaign, conservatives and Republicans are at it again. The GOP establishment, Karl Rove, and the folks who brought you American Crossroads, have created a new organization, the Conservative Victory Group, to fight the Tea Party and the dismal candidates it fielded in 2010 and 2012. It's a win-win for Democrats. Not only will American Crossroads waste millions of dollars attacking Tea Party candidates but the vicious cage match between the two groups will cripple the GOP.

...because they are both obnoxious and annoying and although I change channels if either of them are on, even one split second of Palin's nails scraping on a blackboard unmodulated voice is way too much to bear. Either of them are embarassing as representative of The USA politics, IMO and I am not alone in that opinion. As for Rove making money, I can understand why he must try very hard to do so being that he got investors to back Romney on his guarantee that the election was in the bag...maybe he has to pay it all back to save his fat hide.

You are both right and wrong: yes, the Republicans should have picked up at least 2 seats, but we know the story, and it is too late to look back, yes, we lost some house seats, but where you are wrong: normally, when a sitting pres is re-elected he cleans up by people winning on his coat tails. This didnt' really happen: I would give it a draw...

sickofNY, you have your views, which is fine, but many do not think they are an embassament. How Rove got investers to back Romney has nothing to do with anything and I think you are smart enough to know this....

They would like to have you believe it makes a difference. IMO, it makes none. 2014 will not make a difference, either ... nor 2016. All of this bickering and stance-taking on both sides is merely showboating to get the sheep (us) to think they (DC) are doing something, and to divide us further in ideology so that we all feel our neighbors are our enemies, while both sides continue to feed the beast, and starve the populace. No matter what happened in November, nor what will happen in 14|16 will make any difference. We will still have:
  • Wall street doing fine
  • Big businesses moving their operations overseas in the global environment
  • Middle class in USA becoming poor
  • Poor in USA becoming more destitute
  • Violence in the USA becoming worse (because they convince us to hate our neighbors)
  • Guantanamo still open
  • Cheney still free and fishing (maybe with ANOTHER new heart)
  • Congressmen and Senators still earning a salary and passing laws that pertain to us and not them
  • Wars going on in several countries
  • Military presence in more countries than that, protecting those who've moved their operations overseas (or just doing nothing)
  • More NSA/ICE, and intrusions on civil rights and privacy
  • Nothing of substance getting passed in DC, just the same BS
  • More candidates (who are friends of friends or family of family) being presented (but never anyone who might upset their chess board)
Ahhh, I could go one, but you get the idea.

No ... I have basically become bored by this whole charade. I find it amusing to watch boards like this, and see how the politicians (ALL sides) have us vehemently disagreeing with each other, while they sit there, laughing behind our backs, and making plans about how to divide us ever further, demonizing each other, while they collect paychecks and pensions (and their OWN healthcare).

Anyway, don't let ME spoil the party ... carry on!
