Yes, that would do wonders for the socialist income-redistribution scheme you have going on up there.
You must be confused. The Alaskan Permanent Fund is invested in the free market, and the dividends from those investments go to each qualifying Alaskan. That is as capitalistic as it gets. Socialism is when government controls the means of production or redistributes wealth. Since government cannot create wealth, it can only redistribute the labor of others to those who refuse to labor.
There are two economic truisms socialists are incapable of comprehending:
One cannot multiply wealth by dividing it; and
What one receives without work, another must work without receiving.
Incidentally, no one seems to have noticed that the price of a gallon of gas has been DROPPING in recent days. This after non-stop hysteria for several weeks about rising gas prices.
oh, I have, but watch what happens, once the nice weather hits...what they do, is raise it up really really high, then slowly start bringing it down. Why? So that people "think" they are getting a better price...they do it all the time, but no one seems to notice or care....
and what really insults me, is when they say gas prices are going up do to speculation????? Doesn't anyone else every wonder?
and yes, the government gets a huge hunk of change from gas sales....
wull, hey, that helps pay for the Mrs's big bash birthday party.....
To qualify for a 2013 Permanent Fund Dividend you must be able to answer yes to all of the following statements.
I was a resident of Alaska during all of calendar year 2012;
On the date I apply for the 2013 Permanent Fund Dividend, I have the intent to remain an Alaska resident indefinitely;
I have not claimed residency in any other state or country or obtained a benefit as a result of a claim of residency in another state or country at any time since December 31, 2011;
I was not:
Sentenced as a result of a felony conviction during 2012;
Incarcerated at any time during 2012 as the result of a felony conviction; or
Incarcerated at any time during 2012 as the result of a misdemeanor conviction in Alaska if convicted of a prior felony or two or more prior misdemeanors since January 1, 1997
If absent from Alaska for more than 180 days, I was absent on an allowable absence; and
I was physically present in Alaska for at least 72 consecutive hours at some time during 2011 or 2012.
Nothing in there about having to be employed. So, it appears that there are indeed some non-working Alaskans who receive a big check from the state every year for doing nothing.

Yes, but once again, taxes are levied on a per-gallon basis. So if the tax is 40 cents per gallon, it doesn't matter whether the pre-tax price per gallon is $1 or $4 -- the government gets the same amount of money per gallon either way.
Which means that as gas prices go down, the government takes in MORE money as people start using more gas.
Why do you want the government to take in more money?

Why so the Obama's can keep spending it like water...and Mrs. Obama can have her big birthday party bash....of course.
