Wow, did I buzz-kill this thread by showing the mayor and police reference to the weather being a factor?
Or was it when I pointed out that the city didn't bother cracking down when there were 400 murders (around 300 blacks)....but when the total got embarassing they suddenly cared and are responding by....cracking down on black neighborhoods (aka profiling) which means more young blacks in jail.

It may have to do with the fact that this winter was bitter and cold (more so than the previous few years). In Illinois, it's been a real bad winter for us. If people don't go outside as much, that has to impact social interaction (and anti-social interaction).

The mayor and police super both mentioned that in the link I provided earlier.
One person even tried to head off using this argument, and when provided their comments....never came back.
What's wrong guys? Don't want to discuss why the city didn't act after the 2011 murder totals?
