Unfortunately we have 4 years for him to get there and he sure is trying. Though I'm sure Bush approval rating would have gone up if he was giving away food stamps like Obama has been doing.
Obama isn't standing on the corner handing out food stamps. It's a federal need-based program expanded under Bush to include disaster victims. The applicants are what they are and would have been the same had McCain won.
Bush take an active roll??? Ha! He's doing the world a favor right now by not saying anything stupid and fading off into the backwaters of history. He finally did something right.

You're assuming the economy would suck as bad had McCain won.
With all that Obama and his Democrat friends have done to reward people for not working, that's a big assumption.
