Nope, racism is alive and well in the deep south...I live in a small town in NE GA and I HATE it here and that is one of the many reasons, I keep hoping the real estate market will re-bound soon so I can clear out of here.
It's a public school not a private and any school related activities should not be segrigated.
Yes, you are right. Racism is alive and well there, as it is in every other region of this country. The people who continually come here and complain about racism in the "deep south" should open their eyes to what is going on in the rest of the country. Ignorance is no excuse. You will find just as much racism in the North and West as you find in the South.
I honestly don't know the answer to the OP. One could also ask are there any other reasons to have Black universities other than racism?
Um those are "Historical" Black universities. They started like that because white people didn't want black people going to their universities. Today, anybody can go to them. They do not discriminate. Unlike like a white only prom, which this thread is about.
I remember dancing with black girls, white girls and at least one oriental girl at my prom nearly 50 years ago. I must say I am startled that segregated proms were still in existance. Talk about cultural stupidity.
There are still Hispanic Proms, Black Proms, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's, Black Groups, etc.
If you're gonna complain... let's eliminate them all starting with the NAACP.
These "Proms" are stupid but they are not school sponsored but private parties by private invitation. I went to a Wedding a few weeks ago and their wasn't a Black person at the event.
Do you share the same sadness that black only activities continue to exist?
Like the NAACP, or the National Black Justice Coalition, CORE, or various others.
There is a big difference from racial exclusion to being an organization that fights for equality. None of those organizations exclude others from participating. Which is the opposite of exclusion like the White only prom that this thread is about. I see that some of you are having a hard time focusing on the actual subject.
