"So buttons on your underwear."

The proper phrase is: "SEW buttons on your underwear!"
"SO", "SEW", get it?
Here, I fixed it just for you.

Humans are fallible.....they make mistakes.
So {sew} buttons on your underwear.

A person or persons with a college education might have given more thought about spraying bullets everywhere and therefore not risking the life of a hostage, duh. Mr. Armchair expert.

Too bad the victim's companions weren't armed and instead her male companion was hiding behind a sofa.

But if these violent criminals were given more appropriate prison terms and parole boards could not simply overturn a verdict and sentence, none of this would have happened in the first place. The cops have to go up against these same violent drug addicted thugs over and over and over -- every one of us is put at great risk.

If they released him because of prison overcrowding, that's a sign we need more prisons.

The impression I got was that this all happened in an instant, and that the officer didn't have the luxury of time for any serious thought, that he was forced to immediate reaction when the criminal scumbag pointed his gun at the officer, who responded in the only way he could; fire at the scumbag before the scumbag could shoot him. He didn't "spray bullets everywhere." He hit his target with 8 of 9 shots. Is it terribly unfortunate that one of the officers shots killed the innocent girl? Of course it is. But this girl and the officer were in a no win situation as soon as he walked in to see the scumbag with the innocent girl in a headlock pointing a gun at her.

Like someone in this thread said "Shooting at paper objects is different than shooting at a living breathing person who is moving" If you expect a bunch of college age girls to think rationally and be level headed about shooting a person REGARDLESS of the threat to them than you sir are truly a superhuman !

Also instead of building more prisons perhaps we should be sending less people to prisons by re-working some of the laws in this country. Why should a guy holding a join be arrested and sent to prison only to have a murderer/rapists/armed robber be paroled to make more room for non-violent drug offenders ? What is worse the college student holding a bag of weed in his car or the college student holding a severed human head ?

Did you know most LE officers only possess a high school diploma?
Considering that they are one of the most trusted people in the US according to Gallup, they should possess a bachelor's degree at the minimum. There's too many roid raging cops on the streets today who shouldn't be anywhere near a gun, much less a steel baton.

Plain and simple...see your target...identify your target...hit your target. Firing 8 rounds at a moving target with a NO SHOOT object in front of it is NOT a good shoot.
Very simple typing on the keyboard but quite different in real life, you need to know more about the situation, distance, lighting, movement, other people in proximity and make a decision in a split second. Doubtful the officer ever saw a situation like this before.

A college degree would weed out more of the mentally incompetent, the people in it for the badge, and roid ragers

Unrealistic? Unrealistic to expect that the officer will not take out the victim while stopping the perp?

Clearly, CLEARLY, lots of questions about procedures and training must be asked in the wake of this.

That said, perhaps the clearest of facts in this case is that this criminal should not have been walking the streets, as pointed out by another poster.
Well I am sure there will be an investigate, what I was referring to unrealistic is expecting a cop to just walk in and fire one bullet to the head of the criminal like some cop movie.

If a civilian had done the same thing in the same circumstance, what would happen to the civilian? That's what should happen to this stupid trigger-happy cop! Nothing less!

Cops wake up wanting to go assault citizens of this country. They're losers and members of the biggest gang threat in the country. And they violate laws daily with impunity. Until they are treated the same as everyone else when they kill innocent people this situation will only continue to get worse.
