Comey seems like a very solid choice for the FBI director, he ended up resigning as Assistant Attorney General over the illegal wiretaps.
Quote:
WASHINGTON — President Obama plans to nominate James B. Comey, a former hedge
fund executive who served as a senior Justice Department official under
President George W. Bush, to replace Robert S. Mueller III as the director of
the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to two people with knowledge of
the selection. ....................................
In the 2004 hospital drama that defined Mr. Comey’s time in the Bush
administration, the White House counsel, Alberto Gonzales, and Mr. Bush’s chief
of staff, Andrew H. Card Jr., sought to persuade Attorney General John ********
— who was ill and disoriented — to reauthorize the administration’s
controversial eavesdropping program.
I don't recall all that happened back in 2004 but he seems pretty honorable, of course he probably would have went to jail if he approved but still quite commendable. I guess that's why ******** indicated Comey was in charge at the moment, he knew what signing that document meant.
It's a small circle at the top. And "indiscretions" from the past don't matter as long as you don't go to jail.
Indeed, they are running out of lackey's, need to recycle.
