With many fortune 500 companies now relocating to Houston, its no wonder why this southern gem is such a well kept secret and BOOMING so fast. It is predicted that by 2020, Houston will surpass Los Angeles, Chicago and even New York in population.
For all the talk about Houston, DFW is still the bigger metro area, and looks to remain that way for a while. And the quickest-growing Texas metro in percentage population terms remains Austin, which is why traffic is so ungodly horrible there despite its relatively small size.
Houston is an amazing city. Makes me proud to claim it as a fellow Texan.
Plus - Houston gave us Lyle Lovett. THANKS, Y'ALL!
So much in Houston
Baseball, soccer, the Space Program, the energy industry(one reason I've applied for jobs located in Houston), The Galleria(with an ice skating rink inside), the Astrodome.
Houston also gave us George Foreman, Phylicia Rashad, Dan Rather, Dennis Quaid, Mary Kay Ash(founder of Mary Kay), Joel Osteen, Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Garner.
