A 13-year-old and a 15-year-old have each been charged with first-degree manslaughter in the killing of Michael Daniels, Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler and Mayor Stephanie Miner said at a news conference Thursday night.
Daniels was standing alone outside Los Amigos Market at the corner of Cannon Street and West Brighton Avenue around 9:40 p.m. on May 23 when when he was attacked by a group of teenagers. Police said the teens repeatedly punched Daniels and then kicked him in the head while he was on the ground.

Fowler said the two teens were taking part in "Knockout," a game in which people randomly target someone on the street and try to knock the person out by punching them.
So the last paragraph is key. Races are not mentioned concerning the accused or the victim. The accuseds are black - the victim is white.
'Knockout King' is the frightening phenomenon that has claimed lives across the country as teenagers and young adults seek out sick thrills.
In the planned attacks, a group will appoint a leader and then choose a defenceless victim at random.
They punch the victim to the ground, sometimes filming the attack on mobile phones.
Reports from across the country – including Massachusetts, New Jersey and Chicago – have identified victims as immigrants, elderly and often alone.
It’s a racist assault by blacks (mostly young men) on whites (mostly men of any age). Most often it involves more than one attacker on a lone victim, and usually from behind with no warning.
The media - at this point - are the enablers of these crimes by not highlighting the racial component in these cases. How come this is not highlighted as a hate crime? These sins continue to grow and escalate and morph into more deviant depths.
This is just an isolated incident. There is no racism here. There is no reason to assume there was a hate crime commited. The youth's actions were because of their undiagnosed Post Slavery Stress Disorder. The youths did this because of centuries of oppression.
I think this is horrible, and while I do think it is racist, I'm not sure how having the media point out the racist aspect would lessen the incidence of it's occurring?
These little Trayvons were just walking home not bothering nobody when that angry racist white man jumped out and slammed his head into their fists.
