The U.S. has clearly gone insane. This bill hasn't passed yet, and I hope it doesn't.

The GOP isn't going to be happy until people are literally starving in the streets. There is no amount of suffering they avoid for others, as long as its not the suffering of rich white men.

This is whom the American people voted into office---people who literally want to starve families?

The U.S. cannot succeed if it turns its back on the poor and less fortunate. Whatever happened to caring about all Americans?
Have you ever traveled outside of the USA? What we define as poor would be middle class to wealthy in many places.
Testing the parents who accept welfare or food stamps on behalf of the children. Not sure I agree with this either.
But look at how the other side cries if you mention workfare. Why is workfare so horrific?

You won't starve the children. They are eating in school, not at home..remember ?

Very slowly....okay, but isn't the whole point of taxpayers paying for drug tests to make sure people are in condition to WORK so they can get off food stamps? Or are you thinking the drug test is only to be used as a means to punish people for doing illegal drugs? I was assuming there was a point to it in terms of an actual benefit to taxpayers. But hey, if you don't care if your tax money goes to drunks who are only exercising their rights, who am I to argue?

As for the taxpayers subsidizing WalMart, please show me where our federal dollars are going straight to WalMart.

And if you can't show that, are are attempting to make the link between low pay and assistance, why are you only singling out WalMart? All minimum wage jobs should be on your radar. Why aren't they?
And yet they are the largest employer in America. All of those workers could go and get their B.A. at Harvard, and Walmart would still need employees to stock their shelves and run the cash registers. Why shouldn't someone who is doing that earn a fair wage? Furthermore, why are we the taxpayer, subsidizing the Walmart fortune by having to pay for foodstamps and Medicaid for their employees.?

It's been said that the US has the richest poor in the world.

Most poor people are busy raising children, and working double shifts to do it. They don't have time for drugs and recreation.

Let's stop demonizing the working poor.

They could easily cut many pet projects and that includes those on the left, but you won't see that happening either.
Think about it. The Left will use this for political mileage. They don't offer up alternatives like you know those tanks the army never wanted. Bob Casey D PA.
They don't offer to cut foreign aid to pay for it.
They don't offer to streamline the EPA to pay for it.
There are hundreds if not thousands of cuts that can be made, but will never be cut because the pork must flow.
This is 100% a bi-partisan problem.

We're not subsidizing Walmart. We are subsidizing people content to stay at min wage jobs.
The people have no incentive to move up. Make $1 more and it's all taken away.

You could get $400 a month in food stamps but earn $1 more than the qualifying income and you lose that entire $400.

That is a disincentive to bettering yourself.
