the liberal mind truly is bizarre when it comes to the issue of health care/insurance. fines for smoking? you mean more than they already pay in sin taxes? fines for being overweight? so, you are now not only forcing me to purchase government health insurance, but I am being forced to go in to get weighed? and you determine what is "overweight?" an NFL linebacker that is 6'0 260 lbs with 6% body fat is technically overweight.

Kind of odd don't you think. Liberals talk about paying for National Healthcare by reducing the bloated National Defense (care) because National Defense is too large and cumbersome and sucks up too much of the federal budget. They want to do all this based on the Medicare system that has year over year avoided budget cuts because the system is too expensive, bloated and cumbersome.

The "health care problem" was caused by government in the first place.
The only solution is to get government entirely out of health care.

As I said before, Wall St. will pay. The biggest river of money in the world goes largely untaxed. I'm not talking about capital gains, either. Capital gains barely touches a smidgen of the money that floats around Wall St. on a daily basis

We wouldn't need to reduce DoD spending (merely shift it away into something more useful, like infrastructure spending and R&D for space) if we didn't have Republicans and their backers be so negative and cynical all the time

I was going to read this thread and then reply, but had to stop at this one.

Stupidity. Lack of knowledge, idiocy.

OK, starting with, lets throw out ALL for profit insurers, and put it all on the government to provide free health care.

Hundreds of thousands of people immediately unemployed, businesses folded, and retirements lost. Where do you think much of people's retirements, and union money for retirement is invested?

Next, let's tax wall street. OK, many of those people make more in an hour than I make in a year. Do I envy them? Nope. I have a nice place to live, great kids, a grandkid that's great, food, job. I am happy. More would be nice, but not necessary. I enjoy vacations, and I enjoy life. SO, let's take all the money we need from wall street. Yup, there goes the rest of everyone's retirement money. Hopefully you pulled it all out before taxing them, they all just folded or closed their doors, and oh yes, you now have to pay taxes on all that money you just pulled out.

Last but not least, it's going to end up costing ALL of us more money. Here's what's going to happen. The Doctors will start refusing insurance, because the government will decide what to pay, so, you will end up paying, then get re-imbursed what the government decides it will pay, leaving you holding the bag for the rest. Hospitals will start doing the same. The the government will open it's own hospitals, and with what they will pay doctors, where do you think the BEST doctors will be? That's right, not where the cheapest pay will be, so here are your choices now, pay out the ying yang, or accept what COULD be less than the best care. Well, now we know where the rest of your retirement fund just went to, (After paying the taxes on it, because you pulled it out prior to the collapse of wall street).

Maybe you should think before you speak. A LOT of that money you are talking about "flowing about wall street", is peoples retirement money. The rest, I don't begrudge those people, in all honesty, I wouldn't want their job, OR their money, the amount of stress they deal with and put themselves under, it's stupid.

I prefer to keep my retirement funds earning money, let all those wall street high stressed people, keep their stress, and why not work to better our current systems, instead of trying to break everyone else, take everyone's money that you don't think they should have, and finish destroying the economy?

thats the end goal of obamacare. A single payor system. One size health plan for all people. And if you don't like the "one choice", tough ****. I used to think liberals were about "choice". but not for your healthcare

Fines for being overweight and smoking.

Illegals/non-citizens get treatment but the US sends a bill to whatever country they came from. If they don't pay it, the US deducts that amount from any financial aid they send them.

Seems much more simple than Obamacare and I promise you it would cost all of us half of what this nightmare HC system/non system we have going now.

Let's give people free healthcare so they can stay healthy and get to work and make America a better country.

seems you are brainwashed by the left with their favorite chant "tax the rich tax the rich".
Socialism is great until you run out of other peoples money.

Because we are not a communist country (yet) and we should not be nationalizing anything.

See there you go there’s the problem, the government negotiates.
Why not the people negotiate what they pay by allowing competition through the private health insurances?
