Don't I know it. It's one of the things that is likely driving me to the nut-house.

I think if abortion was made to be a first degree murder crime after a certain gestational period then many doctors would move to a different practice, so I doubt it would have a tremendous effect of the prison population. And even if it did, I would rather pay to have a murder in jail than a pot-smoking grateful dead fan.

The thing that floors me about this issue is these witch doctors who think they can judge when an embryo is a viable life.

These are the same people who have NO CLUE what causes a common cold, or how to cure it. They understand possibly at best estimate 5% of the human body and 1/1000 of the potential of a human being, but they can judge when an embryo is viable

Maybe if they dance around some and speak some incantations they will have a clue, not sure though.

Five percent? You don't say. Just because YOU understand five percent of the human body doesn't mean that doctors are so glaringly ignorant of anatomy and physiology.

Criminalizing abortion would do no more to reduce the incidence of abortion than criminalizing drugs reduces the incidence of drug use. It would mean a whole new black market being set up, with everything that implies.

Not really. I think when people use the drug black market they do so because they feel that smoking/doing drugs for their own personal use is no one's business and, for the most part, the authorities leave them alone. But if we throw in murder, I think it's a whole new deal. I don't think there are so many black market murders out there.

No. I don't belive in gods. There is no more reason whatsoever to claim Yahweh is real than there is to say the same of Odin, Zeus, Shiva, Ra or the Flying Spagheti Monster.

The abortion issue is such a non-starter. It's really a moot point. Just something the GOP trots out now and then to rile up their rabid fanbase of moral watchdogs.

There will always be abortions.

Firstly, Roe v. Wade will never be overturned. Nor should it be.

Even if it were overturned, it would just make the subject a state's rights issue.

It's not as if all 50 states are going to outlaw abortions. That's nonsense.

People will always have access to safe, clinical abortions, even if they have to travel to another state.

And even IF abortions were outlawed across the board, there would still be people seeking them. They would just be black market procedures without being safe and sterile.

The anti-choice crowd should really move on to something else. This is a waste of time.

And I always found it curious that the same people who preach that every fetus is sacred and precious are typically the same people who are:

pro-gun

pro-war

pro-capital punishment

and ANTI any programs designed to aid the less fortunate.

What a bunch of hypocritical BS.

What a stupid thread.
Abortion is not murder.
If you feel that it is, don't have one.
