Did you see Obama, with a straight face, telling the Chatanooga crowd he wants to widen rt 27 to create jobs?

He snickered the last time someone asked about 'shovel ready projects'.

Talk about Weiner being narrcistic and not the least embarassed by his past transgressions. Obama sells the same chatter that proved fruitless and his supporters buy it.

A part time president gives us part time jobs.

Less then 10,000 applied for SS between May and June.

I debunked your talking point. And you need to fix it because 66 is the new age for SS.

My take is the net increase is 89,000.

I have no idea of the number of people that ceased to draw benefits because they passed on during this time period.

The net difference between Dec, 2012 and June, 2013 is + 628,000.

Monthly Statistical Snapshot, December 2012
My number was just straight SS.
That you have to pull out from their report.
My number was May 2013 to June 2013 and showed a less than 10K difference from one month to the next.

You may have 10,000 per day turning 66 but you don't have 300,000 signing up for SS each month.
The BLS says they are retiring. Ok so maybe they are and living off their own money and pensions but you'd think they wouldn't refuse to sign up for SS do you ?

Do you not plan to sign up for SS when you hit full retirement age ?

When you start pulling the data together it just doesn't make sense.

10,000 people per day turn 66. That's 300,000 each month.
But only 10,000 sign up for SS.
That's 290,000 that are opting out or died before they got down to sign up.

Welcome to Obama Ville.

notice how even the Obama loons are starting to catch on to the bad economy and dishonest representation of the unemployment numbers? Is the worm finally turning?

Bushshillland = where your crap leaders shed 8 million jobs then you cry that the democrats aren't bringing then back fast enough.

Right-wingers want to implement austerity measures a'la Spain--with the same results.

Your numbers only show the net increase per month. It doesn't show how many signed up. You could easily deduce that many who were on SS passed on, and the new signees filed their void.

We can and do agree that just because 10,000 people a day are turning 65, does not mean 10,000 people a day start receiving SS benefits. ( My husband is one of them who did not and has no intention of doing so until he's 70). We can also agree that even if all 10,000 people who turn 65 each day enrolled in SS, the number of people receiving benefits would not increase by 300,000 each month, because X number of former beneficiaries die each month.

My SS link shows the monthly number of people 65 or older receiving SS benefits. The month to month difference is the net of new enrollees - last month's beneficiaries who no longer draw benefits, presumably because they died.

But that doesn't account for the 300,000 supposedly turning retirement age each month.
That's 10,000 net increase to SS. There's no accounting for the other 290,000 for one month.
That many couldn't have turned retirement age and died out.

This is the new normal and it does suck but this is the type of thing that happens after an immense restructuring of our economy like we went through.

Also, this past year we have made some progress. Monthly job growth for this past year has averaged 180,000 jobs I think? Its not terrible. With the post recession slower population growth America has we only need to create about 120,000 a month to keep up with the workforce. That, plus the retirement of boomers and the unemployment number will go down slowly but surely.

Also, now that the worse of the sequester has passed maybe we will have better job growth in the 2nd half of the year.
