A simple fix to America's Health Care problem(including HC for seniors) is to let people who can't afford insurance, are refused coverage, or can't afford the cost of care to die when seriously ill or injured. No person, no problem. This notion that it is noble to make sure everyone has access to proper healthcare is moronic at best.
I'm not sure what the Dems were thinking with the ACA, it's half baked at best. It's time to toss most of it and institute single payer or expand refundable tax credits to include insurance premiums(for a more free market approach).
It is nothing more than an insurance policy for which the insured pays a monthly premium.
Now you know.
Medicare is deficit financed. Seniors that pay Medicare premiums do not pay enough to keep Medicare solvent. And let's not forget about the medicare taxes that fund medicare.

The poor aren't driving or controlling healthcare costs. Since the 1930/1940's the healthcare market has become less and less competitive, with accelerated hospital consolidation occuring since the 80's/90's.

The increased cost of U.S. healthcare consistently outpaces inflation. Some of this is due to new procedures and medications and people are living longer and better because of it. The other side of the coin is all about BIG Pharma, BIG Medical Equipment and BIG Hospital interests and lobbies.
These special interests make U.S. healthcare the most expensive in the world, in side by side comparisons.
The same political party that sponsored Medicare Part D (prescription drug) in 2003 is the same party majority that denied Medicare the ability to negotiate prices, as is done everywhere else in the word. It was a win-win for Big Pharma and a swell pay back for $ billions in lobby money. And every cent of it is deficit spending.
Um, math class time
Obama 5 years
Bush 8 years
Clinton 8 years
= 21 years..
So yes, 20+ years
McCain, Bush, nor Romeny were "conservative"
Your math stinks. President Obama was sworn in January 20th 2009. In this math universe that is not 5 years. It won't be 5 years until January 20th 2014.
