WASHINGTON -- The United States government took an historic step back from
its long-running drug war on Thursday, when Attorney General Eric Holder
informed the governors of Washington and Colorado that the Department of Justice
would allow the states to create a regime that would regulate and implement the
ballot initiatives that legalized the use of marijuana for adults.

I wonder if they'll stop going after California's medical marijuana industry now as well.
Good step in the right direction, with regard to picking what laws to ignore.
I have to wonder...what will be Obama's whim next week? What federal laws will we chose to ignore then? Maybe some civil rights laws? 4th amendment? 5th? I mean, what the heck, if we're just going to pick and chose what laws to enforce...why have them?
Might be time to fire up the mill and get to work on that machine gun.
I give props where they are due. The Obama administration said it would NOT block state laws allowing for medical or recreational use of pot.
The pharamacuetical lobby is too strong in this country. Drug companies could potentially lose billions of dollars if medical marijuana is legalized. I don't expect this marijuana thing to gain traction over the long term.
Yes, they did. They said they would respect California's laws, but proceeded to raid their dispensaries anyway. I hope this signals a true change in policy.
Recreational cannabis stores are actually going to be opening in Washington state scheduled for sometime early nest year..
I'm going to do a bowl just to celebrate. Meanwhile, the drug warriors can drown their sorrows in a bottle..
I'm going to light up some too regardless of what they say. It is illegal in my state but that hasn't stopped me from being able to get the best of the best any time I want it.
