I'm not sure you've though this through.

Same here. No congressman should get a pension after serving only one term in congress. Rediculous.

Except that the game has become increasingly stacked in favor of the incumbent when it comes to media clout and money. And I hate to say this, but most people aren't discerning or thoughtful enough to think about an alternative. Sorry, but I support term limits--but for several terms--say, 12 years for congressmen and 18 for Senators. That'd be enough to give them some experience but short enough to get them out of office once they become part of the system.

True but an awful lot of voters vote for name recognition. We need some safeguards against stupid voters.

The OP's question is a tough one. I can't decide on just one.

The irony is that regardless of whatever it is, it would require those who have the most to lose to vote against their self interests.

I wish they got rid of United States v. Cruikshank Supreme Court decision.
United States v. Cruikshank - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which bastardized the 14th amendment and the privileges and immunities clause

It doesn't necessarily have to be the biggest $$ waster, or anything like that. Just something that you think should be eliminated. Something you think is a complete waste of money.

For me, it would be the Secret Service protection afforded the president AFTER they leave office. I'm okay with it while they are in office, but when you leave office, the protection should end. Immediately.

It's not like any of these clowns came into/left office with $3 in the bank. All of those book advances can buy a lot of mercenary protection.
Lobbists, they are subverting our government.

One thing? Just one thing!

I'd have Wickard v. Filburn thrown out, (317 U.S. 111 handed down in 1942). One of the biggest executive branch power grabs from the states and the congress since the constitution was ratified. The start of the gutting of the Commerce Clause and the beginning of excessive federal economic regulations mandated by bureaucrats who were not responsible to the states or the voters. SCOTUS blew that one.
