I was staunchly opposed to ACA all along, even though it had no effect on me. After a couple of years being uninsured after leaving her job, we got my wife back on insurance a few months ago on an affordable, high-deductible plan that worked great for us.
Saturday, I received a letter from our insurance company informing us that our current plan is being discontinued because it doesn't meet ACA standards -- so for about the same price we're getting essentially the same plan, but our out-of-pocket costs have tripled and our coinsurance doubled. So much for keeping our current insurance.
We spend 640 Billion to fund Medicare, Tricare, and VA. That's every year... It cost taxpayers almost $10,000 for each recipient. On the other hand the ACA has high deductibles and it looks doubtful that the subsidies would be more than $3,000 per recipient average. Obamacare looks a lot like Paul Ryans plan for Medicare. Republicans love that plan.
Basically we have two "lifeboats" out there for health insurance. One is loaded with 640 billion dollars and the other has 100 billion dollars in it. The folks in the 640 billion dollar life boat are trying to sink the other lifeboat before it even hits the water. That's compassionate conservatism. Or as Grover Norquist said lets "drown the baby in the bathtub."

We spend over $1 trillon a year for 83 means tested welfare programs.
We have lots of "lifeboats" floating around in America.
WE are the govt. WE fund the programs that we use.
That would make a cute bumper sticker, but its a myth.
Politicians will say anything to get elected and then cater to whoever will keep them in power once there the idea that the common man has some say in that process is incredibly disingenuous or just plain naive.
And saying "we" fund these programs makes it sound like its voluntary, but last I checked if you dont fund the government, it takes your stuff and locks you up.

So we get to go shopping again. Thanks Obama.
Most people are finding they are paying less, especially married couples and families. Single people with high incomes will end up paying maybe 20-25% more on the bronze than on the old catastrophic policies. Nobody will pay more than 9.5% of their income for health insurance. The Bronze plans are better than the catastrophic plans. Kaiser has a calculator that will give you an estimate of what you will pay next year.
According to lefties, anything that polls say that the American people are against should be eliminated.
