Well, I guess they must be doing really well then, and they must have all kinds of people wanting to immigrate to Russia
They are doing much better than they were. Russia isn't very tolerant of immigrants though, so while people are immigrating there, a better metric is to see how many are emigrating. In the 90's alot of people were leaving Russia, my mom was one of those people, but that trend has slowed considerably.
From McCains article: Writing of Mr. Putin and his associates, Mr. McCain said, “They don’t respect your dignity or accept your authority over them. They punish dissent and imprison opponents. They rig your elections. They control your media. They harass, threaten, and banish organizations that defend your right to self-governance. To perpetuate their power they foster rampant corruption in your courts and your economy and terrorize and even assassinate journalists who try to expose their corruption. They write laws to codify bigotry against people whose sexual orientation they condemn. They throw the members of a punk rock band in jail for the crime of being provocative and vulgar and for having the audacity to protest President Putin’s rule
Described the boys in DC to a "Tee" -- heh .. Pot called Kettle Black lately?
Thumbs up for McCain for taking the US side in the battle of words between US and Russia. It was disappointing to see so many Americans, mostly partisan republicans, idolize Putin after the assaulted the American Exceptionalism, and US as whole.
MOSCOW — In a combative essay published on Thursday in the online newspaper Pravda, Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, declared himself to be “pro-Russia” but delivered a blistering attack on President Vladimir V. Putin, describing him as presiding over a failed petro-state, a quasi-dictator who rules “by corruption, repression and violence.”

.Mr. Putin’s spokesman, Dmitri S. Peskov, quickly suggested that Mr. McCain’s views were largely irrelevant to the Russian people and said that Mr. Putin would not respond to the article, which was titled “Russians Deserve Better than Putin.”
How many times have We The People, sharply criticize John McCain for being a dumb ass?
They were purged because they were weak. Russians aren't weak, it's not in our DNA or culture.
Thanks for confirming what I already suspected. What a load of BS, typical Ruskie double talk to explain the murder of Millions of their own People. So when is Putin and his pawns (lycos) reinstating the USSSR and invading Easter Europe?

I will grant the argument that it is likely worse to be killing your own citizens but that is simply an argument of degree when we have killed so many citizens of other countries the last decade plus.
