Where is the international public outcry against Iran?
How can one have outrage when one is not privy to every atrocity in every country of the world instantaineously. When did you learn of this? Me..right now.
That should be obvious. While they have no problem with pedophilia; the consequences of a whole bunch of incestual births with attendant birth defects would bring shame onto their house of male dominance. Er, wouldn't it?
Not recognizing or addressing incestual relationships allows for the disposal of that unwanted pregnancy or birth defect child without undue attention whereas if it were the result of a recognized union it would be there in the light of day for everyone to notice.
Oooopsy; look, there's a child with two heads; guess Abdul couldn't keep his pecker in his pants with Fatima, his twelve year old daughter.
Not really sure how they think this legalizes pedophilia. Even without this law, girls as young as 13 can be married with their father's consent. So if a guy wants to marry his neighbor's daughter it's cool even without the new law covering adopted daughters. Get a judge on board, and his 10 year old is okay too.
It would be comical if it weren't so sad that they spin this as all having to do with who has to wear the hijab and when. Couldn't the ayatollah just say look, you adopt a child or marry their mother and the same rules apply as if they were the fruit of your loins? That is, they go scarf-free and you don't marry them. Problem solved!
Yes, but gosh, it will solve the issue of the adopted daughter having to cover her hair, so it's all good.
Quote:
According to Sadr, officials in Iran have tried to play down the sexual part of such marriages, saying it is in the bill to solve the issue of hijab [head scarf] complications when a child is adopted.
An adopted daughter is expected to wear the hijab in front of her father, and a mother should wear it in front of her adopted son if he is old enough, Sadr said.
Wouldn't the better solution be to say adopted children should be treated no different than biological children? No, wait, can't have that, it makes sense.
Really, what the hell, Woody Allen did it...but I don't think she was 13.
Estelle Caro Eggleston at the age of 16, she married electrician Noble Herman Stephens on December 1, 1954. They had one child, Herman Andrew Stephens, who would later be known as actor/producer Andrew Stevens. He is Stella's only child. The couple divorced in 1957.
Lucille Wood Smith at age 14, she eloped with her first husband, Thomas F. Fox. She bore one son, Thomas F. Fox, Jr., when she was 15. Divorced in 1929.
And, what they do in Iran isn't really all that shocking, after all, Afghan men have been bartering and trading wives and daughters for goat herds for eons. That's the custom with third world countries. And, who are we to be telling people of other countries what to do?
