House passed measure guaranteeing no default; It was called the McClintock-Toomey bill. The WH issued a formal veto threat.

The bill was stopped dead by Harry Reid in the senate.

When you hear Democrats shrieking about how irresponsible it is for Republicans to “risk default” on the nation’s debt obligations, know this: Default would be impossible if the Senate passed the bill, and if Obama signed, a House measure that makes debt payments the government’s top priority in the event the debt ceiling is not raised.

Why did Reid strip it out. They wanted to use the Credit default as a threat, you'll hear alot of fear mongering coming from Obama and democrats but we will not default. Our revenues are 10 times our interest and debt payments. There is absolutely no reason for a default. For Obama to point the finger he may as well be pointing to Reid and his own treasury.

Obama is starting to get warmed up feeding his propaganda and fear mongering on the debt ceiling. The world is coming to an end, the world is ending. It will be sequestration all over again. Soon his followers will post repeating every attack he puts out there. Of course the media won't say a peepin word about how Reid stopped a bill that would guarantee that government can't default.

It would be a catastrophe, Democrats say, but they refused to prevent it.

McClintock bill: well-intentioned but unworkable | Jeff Pelline's Sierra Foothills Report

Quote:
Our Congressman Tom McClintock has introduced HR 421— the Full Faith and Credit Act —directing the U.S. Treasury, in the event the debt ceiling is reached, to pay principal and interest due on debt held by “the public” before making any other payments.

U.S. Treasury officials disagree with the bill, calling it “well intentioned but unworkable.”

“It would not actually prevent default, since it would seek to protect only principal and interest payments, and not other legal obligations of the U.S., from non-payment,” Department Undersecretary Neal Wolin wrote in the blog.

“It would therefore bring about the same catastrophic economic consequences Secretary Geithner has warned against, including sharp rises in mortgage interest rates and other borrowing costs for families; reductions in the value of homes, 401(k)s and other retirement savings; and negative effects on the dollar and the safe haven status of Treasury bonds and other Treasury securities.”

Because everyone knows the games Republicans are playing:

We'll pass a bill to avoid default.... only if you agree to our demands to dismantle ACA.

And that is a non-starter. It's a false promise by tea partiers to say that "oh, we're willing to avoid default." No, you're not...only if you get you demands are you willing to avoid it. And that's just wrong.

We're through playing these stupid games, everyone sees through them. Pass a clean bill and then get the support to repeal ACA later if you don't like it.

Oh support is being gained day by day. That's why people like you, Obammers and Reid are screaming so loud and profanely.

It's like quicksand, the more you thrash about the quicker you sink. I just can't wait until Oct 16th if this Mexican standoff continues.

Pass the popcorn.

So you an Obama supporter think it's all a game. So does the Obama administration.
