How does the two party system benefit the people?
- Does it only benefit the politicians?
- Does it only hurt the people by putting a mask on politicians and hiding their true priorities and agenda?
- Does it only serve to divide the people and make it easier to control the people? Divide and Conquer
Should we demand an end to political parties and force politicians to run on their individuality ... their true priorities ... what they will do for you ... the people?
The problem is -- if I as a Democrat decide I no longer want to vote for the Democrats, and instead I form a Socialist Party, that is only going to help the Republicans win. The Democrats winning is less bad for me than the Republicans winning, even though my preferred result would be the Socialists winning.

I'm of the opinion that parliamentary systems are superior because they allow a multitude of parties to flourish and they actually have the ability to get things done(the American system seems to have lost this ability ever since 2010). If had to make suggestions to reform our system, they would be congressional districts being set by non-partisan, independent bodies and doing something with all the money that flows into politics.
I definitely prefer parliamentary systems as well. The past two decades have confirmed that our system is fundamentally flawed. In a parliamentary system, the opposition has NO power. There aren't constant standoffs. Because if the voters don't like the way the majority is conducting affairs, they can be thrown out at the next election and then THEY will have no power.
What is "nutty" about asking the government to not raise taxes and to not spend more than it receives in revenue?
What's nutty is Republicans controlling the House for much of the last 20 years, passing spending bills, adding to debt, and now complaining when the bills come due.

So you prefer the lesser of two evils. I voted that way for years not liking either candidate I had to choose from but voting anyway. I quit with the last election and did not vote for President. I voted only for candidates I liked so many races I did not even vote in. My ballot was very empty.

Americans would have to vote 3rd party (lose) but gain support for the following election. Sacrificing short term for improvement long terms has never been an American quality. When people foolishly believe they are living in the greatest/freest/whatever nation in the world, they are less likely to make sacrifices because "It's still not that bad"

If we have no parties then we have no parties. No democrats ... no republicans ... no socialists ... none ... we just have American citizens and their representatives who only represent the people who voted them in.
You can still be a socialist and have socialist friends and associates but your votes count as individual citizens.

No, that's not true. You must live in the wrong place or associate yourself with the wrong people to possess that unfortunate opinion. The vast majority of Americans are good people who want nothing more than to live and let live in peace.
You're the one who continues to insist the two-party system continue, because you won't start up any 3rd Parties, so why ask us?

Yes, because everyone else has trampled the US Constitution so we might as well all get in on the act and have fun trampling the US Constitution, too.
