to both of you, genetically modified means just that, either plant splicing, or even selecting specific plants that have either greater yields, or disease resistance, or both, or other traits the growers are looking for, and then those plants are cloned.

what the REAL talking point in this thread, which was pointed out to me by don draper, is in fact genetic engineering, not genetic modification. keep up.

Yes, that's true...

There have been diseases where a single pathogen eliminates an entire genus of plants. The most famous being called the Dutch Elm Disease. Yet, even within the Ulmus genus, there happens to be a resistant species to said disease.

Finding such resistance is for the citrus plant is going to be an interesting challenge.

they've been looking for such for over 40 years. if it exisited naturally it would have been found by now.
