Why should they be allowed to do this and is this the intended purpose of a government Police force to begin with?

Private Police forces can be maintained with much more transparency and due process.

We currently have the highest incarceration rate (per capita and raw numbers) in the world.

What are you going to do about it?
I notice you didn't post those "statistics" you mentioned.

You don't fully understand the topic in the first place. There's many different examples. THINK.
I THINK you are trying to create a controversy where none exists. Where are your examples?

This is true. Black mob violence is becoming a huge problem in cities across the country. Rochester, N.Y. is experiencing BIG problems (my daughter lives there, which is why I know about it and mentioned it). There are many other cities as well. Google it, if you don't believe me.

"A few?" It's more than "a few." It's becoming epedemic.

Actually, Blacks have been subjected to prejudice and hatred in this country from day one. Even when Black people had much lower out-of-wedlock birth rates, even with families intact, they were still treated poorly.

I do acknowledge that the Irish were treated quite badly too. That noted, I would read "How the Irish became White". Blacks would never "become White". And from what I've seen, there are Black Africans who have come here and met prejudice. I've seen it for myself. Even if many Africans don't like the ways of many Black Americans, they still acknowledge that they would still be treated different from White persons. I've met some Africans who have mentioned some of the treatment they have gotten.

The roots of bigotry and prejudice go way back, and it was a way of dividing people, of keeping the powerful from losing power. I would look up Bacon's Rebellion.

If that is the case, then why is a Black person pulled over first, given everything being equal? 50% of how you are perceived is how you look. Explain why some Africans I've known have experienced prejudice as well.

There is still something to consider. Why should law-abiding Black people be made to pay for the stupidity of criminals who happen to be Black? What benefit is it to Black people who actually are obeying the law? If one is obeying the law, why should that person be subjected to more scrutiny than someone else based on race? How does it help that person?

What's the best way to keep someone out of gainful employment??

Label them a criminal.

This is one thing the drug war has done.

Good for you for wanting to appeal the ban on marijuana. But when someone is in possession of drugs and not selling them to children what "wrong" have they committed?

[MOD CUT/off topic]
At year-end 2007 the United States had less than 5% of the world's population and 23.4% of the world's prison and jail population (adult inmates).

It's all about control and minorities get the short end of the stick. Conviction rates are easier on those without money and means to fight the charge.
In the land of the free it seems rather absurd that America is noted for its high prison population percentage compared to other countries. Legalize freedom!
