Remember unions being upset about Obamacare?
Well, part of yesterdays deal was they got a waiver not to be included in Obamacare, just like DC and Nebraska.
Medicare also escaped means testing. As it now stands seniors only pick up 25% of the cost of Medicare Part B. The government picks of the rest of the tab about $315 per month plus another $75 per month on Part D. Guess we should be thanking the Tea Party for saving Medicare and those subsidies.

It's coming. It was not the time or place to be debating program cuts. The conferees will hack at Medicare entitlements because Obama himself is in favor of that. Also, social security will get put on a cost of living plan that ensures seniors will fall further and further behind. As long as we have handouts to bums and losers who don't deserve it like food stamps, section 8, and on and on, there will have to be cuts to senior programs.
Once again . if the ACA is so good why the need for waivers and exemptions?
Some of the people still had Cadillac plans where you never saw a bill for anything and they typically cost about $10,000 per year. The Longshoremen might have been about the only ones on the Cadillac plans. The other part of course is that unions have always had that as a benefit for joining a union. With something like the ACA you don't need a union you can buy insurance on an open exchange. One of the benefits though of the ACA that opponents never work through is some construction jobs which are non-union and dangerous offer no insurance. Someone fall off the roof and they are screwed. You know not everyone who applies gets insurance. My wife hand to fill out 40 pages on her last application. Would you insure a roofer for example if you didn't have to?

Are you sure? Can you quote that part of the deal?

I disagree with you on the chained cola. SS will not go to the chained cola. But the ACA could be a "stalking horse" for reforming Medicare. You either get the IPAB or the ACA. Interesting though is that the ACA isn't a lot different than the Ryan Plan that Republicans voted overwhelmingly for twice in 2011 and 2012. This year they must have realized it wasn't that popular.
In nearly every state that tab is going to be picked up by Workman's Comp.
