In another thread the topic was whether or not you would intervene if you saw a guy beating up a girl on the street. Many guys said no because they did not want to get hurt or involved......
I'm not sure if this is a cultural thing or what. It surprised me though. I'm a girl and I would even intervene.
I was once attacked by some crazy dude for no reason while waiting for the subway. I'm glad the guys who were close by at the time never hesitated to come to my aid.
I'm all for a person defending himself but appropriately. If a random girl walks up and punch a guy in the face she deserves to get it back. But listening to many of you that would equal knocking her unconscious or maybe even killing her. (because that is likely to happen if you are not thinking straight.)

I don't care who you are, if you attack me, I will defend myself. I probably wouldn't have punched her, but I would have slapped her,.
A good example of appropriate response.
