Conservatives, do you believe this statement by Republican Governor Paul LePage? Or was his misinformed, or even worse, lying?

Conservatives count each individual sperm as an able-bodied person. So actually it should be closer to 99%.

I think he was misinformed, or not equating the statistics correctly. He'd have to investigate, and then repeat this later to make it to the lying stage.

But if this is such a problem...where are the jobs for these people? Seriously. Show us the jobs!

I don't know the numbers, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. This is the fricken welfare state. People move here to get welfare. I've seen plenty of people who were perfectly capable of working, have all kinds of government hand outs. (Oh yes, I know, I "don't know their story".) Unlike other places, this state isn't highly populated. Even when you make no attempt to get to know people, or about people, you learn about them.

To the OP's defense, they are not allowed to post stuff like this in the Maine forum. Anything that sounds even remotely political gets locked, and the OP is told to post here.

Maine is one of very few right to work for cash, states.

Income tax is not reported.

Sounds like yet another out-of-touch conservative to me. Of course, insulting remarks like that tend to tick people off come election time. I mean, just ask Mitt Romney about his 47% remark.

I'm fairly new to this state, I did not know that.

Very interesting. Where did you find that information? I'm having a difficult time finding it.
