I've looked a bit but haven't been able to find it, and know posters here are pretty knowledgable. A portion of the population will qualify for subsidies under Obamacare to pay all or part of their mandatory health insurance. This is no different than any other form of welfare. Does anyone have any links to what percentage of the population will receive these handouts? I'm curious because..between OC welfare, Medicaid, WIC, EBT and other programs, I really would like to know what portion of the population is NOT dependant on the government for welfare of any kind. It seems to be steadily declining.

so all those that recieve a tax credit or subsidy are on welfare?
The question is: what portion of the working-age population is welfare-dependent?
It's a hard one to answer since welfare comes in so many forms. I consider the Child Tax Credit to be welfare. But others might see only that portion of the population that gets money back from the tax system they never paid in the first place to be welfare.
And then there are the people who 'work' for non-profits like ACORN or OFA who get tax money funneled to them by corrupt Democrats as 'pay' for totally bogus jobs. This is more like the Mafia no-show jobs model, but it's still basically welfare.

Yes. Seems like a simple concept, doesn't it? Getting some sort of handout from the taxpayers is indeed welfare. Doesn't matter what label you slap on it.
I guess then the tax writeoffs that people who are wealthy enough to own 1-2 homes are welfare. You could argue that any tax writeoff is welfare. I'm guessing you don't write posts whining about that.

Another poster who doesnt know the difference between allowing one to keep their money, vs giving people money that isnt theirs..

"Write-offs", (deductions) are a tool to reduce someone's taxable income. The amount they actually pay taxes on. Which implies that they actually pay taxes. Whereas a "tax credit" is a handout, an actual "cash back" after taxes are calculated. Any "tax credit" is a form of welfare...deductions, yeah, to some extent.
