Well, I can honestly say that my health insurance costs has certainly gone down since the Affordable Health Care Act went into effect on October 1, 2013. No doubt about it.

Since I canceled my Blue Cross/Blue Shield coverage effective September 30, 2013, my health insurance costs have dropped by $327/month. That is a savings of $3,924 per year!

Of course it also means that effective October 1, 2013 I am no longer insured, but I am saving lots of money.

I will never sign up for any government mandated health insurance program. Oh, I also have not received a tax refund from the IRS in more than 25 years. So let them do their worst. I am prepared.

Okay, an exercise for you. Find me cheaper insurance. I live in SC, Mt Pleasant. I have to have an PPO due to my daughter's medical needs. My current plan being cancelled has a $1200 deductible (might be $1250), 20% coinsurance, $5000 out of max out of pocket for family. Has out of network coverage and the new policy must have it as well. Co-pays for doctors is $25. Premium is ~$800 per month. Three people in my family. Find me a cheaper policy that has that criteria because I am finding it's around $1000 per month. Debunk that.
