I will say this about Reagan: compared to the current crop of wannabes on the ultra-right, he looks like a real statesman.

These days, any Republican who even hints at the merest possibility of compromising with moderates and liberals, or raising taxes -- both of which Reagan did, repeatedly -- would instantly be shot down as a "RINO." He wouldn't last a day in today's GOP.
