Even in a nation with a biracial president, where interracial marriage is more accepted and common than ever, Bill de Blasio's marriage to Chirlane McCray is remarkable: He is apparently the first white politician in U.S. history elected to a major office with a black spouse by his side.
This is a conversation for the politics board. Interracial couples are hardly news worthy; the only thing that makes this couple newsworthy is De Blasio was recently elected mayor of NYC. This is a topic of politics, not relationships.
I'm all for interracial relationships, marriages, etc, but seriously people need to stop celebrating this 'white guy with non-white woman' dynamic as if it's some sort of "victory" in the war on racism or some sort of triumph against all odds...not even close.

Ya know John, some of the things you think are "news" just makes me scratch my head. There have been interracial marriages since the Biblical times and probably beyond.
