Railroads and pipelines to move products. Freeways and streets to move people and products. Military to protect our borders and our constitution. All important infrastructures funded by taxpayers that are absolutely essential to the well being and productivity of the country.

Also essential is a healthy populace. Just nationalize the entire healthcare industry. Make it completely non-profit but make the salaries and benefits for healthcare workers much better. Pay for their college. Give grants to universities to develop the new medical procedures and medicines. No more Phizer's that make billions off our misery.

Take the billions of dollars that are given to execs and shareholders and use that to make healthcare cheaper and more efficient.

There are plenty of other ways to make money in America. Healthcare should not be a way. Healthcare should be for professionals, not money pigs.

The Military is protecting our borders? Good one, I needed a laugh.

Yes it should be, the profit motive has produced great inventions and innovations, far faster, greater quality, and at very low cost the government ever has or ever will.

"No more Phizer's that make billions off our misery." Why not stop there, Why should Food production be a for profit industry? Is it not wrong to profit off out people`s hunger? What about Energy Production, Is it not wrong to profit off of people`s need for fuel and electricity?

I love how you dont care about 1/6th of the economy, and how you dont care about the shareholders, you are aware most them are retirement funds right?

I love how you show off how much you don't know about, this is more reason to get government out of the free market, not give it more control over it.

Why do you think healthcare should be a part of a free market? Why should there be profit in treating illness and tragedy?

Why not? The profit motive will reward the best ideas, products, people, and service and force business to innovate and compete.

Why should there be profit in feeding people? I mean you taking advantage of them.

This proletariat vs bourgeoisie failed world view produces nothing but stagnating poverty.

Going to the doctor is a service, not "infrastructure".

Medical people are different. They will continue to develop new procedures and methods and medicines and they will do it because they are professionals. Very few get into the field for the money. It's the money people's fault that we are in the mess we are in.

The doctors, nurses, researchers. They will all still be there.

Really its because they are professionals, so the profit motives is not the primary factor?

Who in their right mind would go through 12 years of school, take on at least 150,000$ to 300,000$ and debt and work mind numbing hours all to make 50,000$ a year pay back loans, buy a house, a car, and have a life/family...yeah not going to happen, young people will pick other fields then medicine.

The quality and work ethic of the doctors, nurses, and researchers will drop.

No it is not the profit motive that is why we are in this mess, its morons in DC passing laws about systems and industry they know less then nothing about, and moronic voters trying to get something for nothing.

Stop trying to make profit something dirty, unmoral, and wrong, its is the single greatest force that has lead any kind of technological progress in the history of the human race over the shortest volume of time.

Didn't I already say that the doctors and nurses should be paid more and better benefits?

If you cut the billions of profits out of the industry there is plenty of money to pay the people that matter.

Which industry ?

You have big Pharma, you have the hospital districts, you have insurance companies and a host of others in between.
Each one vies for their own piece of the pie.

Doctors and nurses are the ones in the trenches doing the work.
But they cannot do it without the "industry" providing their resources.

That would be the exception and not the rule, when Joe 160 IQ is deciding what profession to take many of them aren't going to decide on one without a pot of gold at the end rainbow.
