I had an ankle injury a week ago. Instead of panic like an idiot and go to the emergency room, I went to a 24 hour on call orthopedic doctor. I didn't know these people even existed but I spent 3 whole minutes googling to find out where mine was and went. Amazing what sort of things an educated consumer finds in a free market.
For $30, I got X-rays, 30 minutes with a doctor, a boot, exercise instructions and 2 follow up appointments. I couldn't have been more pleased with my private insurance and private health-care experience. There were no lines.
Thats funny but I think that was your co-pay off a fairly decent private insurance plan. The ACA will be similar except in tight bands with limited doctors. The out of pockets will probably be higher unless you are on a Gold or Silver plan. The Gold plan is similar to most employer plans.
I took my cat to the vet today because he's not eating/drinking and has been throwing up water all weekend. Bill was $225 for some bloodwork and (2) shots.

Thank you private sector
Then you should be thrilled that Obamacare is still a private insurance in a free market and changes nothing for you. It does allow people who do not have an employer to pay the tab for them or may have the misfortune of having asthma the chance to get coverage like you enjoy as well. What's not to like, huh?

I'm glad you acknowledge the primacy of free market policies and private insurance over a single payer system. I agree.
Well being a citizen of a foreign nation, I'm just not seeing what the poster is so happy about. We visit an emergency unit open 24/7 see an on-call orthopedic surgeon, with all of the same treatment protocols, physiotherapy appointments, follow up orthopedic specialist assessment appointments, orthotic boot, X-rays, no line ups, without having to pay any bill at the end of it all. This is the norm for us. This is akin to someone gloating over colour TV the rest of the world has had since the 50's.

Private sector my foot. If you got $300 worth of health care for $30 without insurance, it was subsidized by your neighbors one way or another.
