Yes, you do have a right to respond.

I tend to agree with the posters who say he has a right to believe whatever he wants and he has a right to answer a question however he wants. I also think he is fine to deal with the consequences. Seriously, he's not missing a thing by being suspended from the show. Big whoop.

I agree, it doesn't affect him personally very much. However, I like to think of things like this as an investment. If someone really would be harmed by losing something like this, they'll probably think twice about denigrating classes of people on TV. If it leads to less insult overall, it's a win.

This is the latter day version of Mc Carthyism; the Left, not content with PC speech codes, has us shushing one another now.

True tolerance includes tolerating the intolerant, and while tolerance is a public virtue it is most certainly not mandatory . Not in a free society, anyway.

Had this guy been a Muslim and said he was quoting the Koran, the pusillanimous Left would have shut their holes.

In a free society, when people use their freedom of speech to insult others, those others can then use their freedom of speech to respond.

Actually, we'd probably be louder.

That wouldn't apply under anti-discrimination law. He wasn't fired because of his religious beliefs.

You seem blissfully unaware that that is not what is happening. Combatting speech with which you disagree is fine -even laudable. But silencing speech with which you disagree is execrable.

The guy has a religion. It tells him what his G-d deems to be sin and it tells him to hate the sin but love the sinner. It's not like he's out there advocating violence (or even advocating that gay people and supporters of gay rights ought not to be allowed to speak their minds without fear of loss of employment.)

Making controversial and offensive statements. I can't make remarks that denigrate a certain group of people at work, either, regardless of my religious beliefs.

If one makes controversial and offensive statements that make their employer look bad, their employer has the right to fire them for it. They have that right whether it's based on a response from us or not, and it's our right to respond in the first place. Absolutely no one's rights have been violated in any way.
