I think the younger generations are poised to push to the fringes those who reject alternate lifestyles. My children attend schools where there are LGBT support groups and where there are a number of openly gay students who are generally accepted. For them it's not unusual or shocking, it's just what it is.

We, as a society, should spend less time telling others how to live their lives and spend more time focusing on ourselves.

For the reading comprehension impaired, I did not say that gay people are pedophiles. If you are going to talk about "preferences", then be honest.
Children are unable to consent, that's the key distinction. Relationships between two consenting adults, regardless of the sexual orientation are nothing like pedophilia.

Plus the fact that it's illegal. Unfortunately so is homosexuality in some countries. It's incredibly sad that society hasn't evolved to learn to accept people for being born different.

Why can't same-sex attraction just be viewed as a simple random attraction such as somebody liking macaroni over pasta; or preferring cookies over brownies; or thinking audi's are cooler than infiniti's?

Why do people demonize this random preference that people have like it's so important?

It's so strange that there is this universal hate of people with this preference in almost every religion? Like really, it's so trivial and random!

Why can't people choosing "alternative lifestyles" as they call them realize that not everyone is going to like or agree with what you do? Not everyone agrees with anything people do. Accept that and stop demonizing people who don't want to celebrate your "alternative lifestyle". People have a right to like or not like something, agree or disagree. Not all people like cookies or not all people like brownies, that's the way it is. People have a right to choose what they will accept and not accept, like or not like. And yet you term this freedom to choose as "hate" if one chooses the way you do not like. You want tolerance, but you give none towards those who do not choose your way. Get over it.

It is to most people in my generation (the millenials). It's understandably difficult for older generations to accept because it's so far out of what they learned to be normal and acceptable.

Because it deviates from the norm. The majority of people are heterosexual and consider that to be 'normal'. Anything else they consider to be 'deviant' and 'abnormal'. Plant and animal species propagating by means of interaction between two different sexes is considered 'natural', the sexual interaction by same-sex individuals in a species which normally propagates by different sex interactions is considered 'unnatural'. It has [generally] been so for thousands of years.

There are laws against public nudity, and [in general] it is considered 'immoral'...even more so the public display of even heterosexual activities- people don't want to see it in the street, it is supposed to be 'private', even though everybody does it they don't want it in their faces. Many people still even consider oral sex between heterosexual couples as 'wrong', 'immoral', and 'unnatural'. They don't want to see it, they don't want to know about it, it offends their sensibilities, they would prefer to pretend that it doesn't exist. Public display of sexual attraction by same-sex individuals evokes images in their minds that they don't want there, it disturbs them that these [unwanted] images are being 'forced' upon them and it makes them angry that other people feel they have the 'right' to make this 'intrusion' in their minds and *demand* that they accept it.

Right or wrong, that's the way it is. It has generally been so for thousands of years and it isn't going to change overnight.

Yeah. That's what the term "decency" referred to. Your comment just proved my point. Thank you.

The only religion that really hates homosexuals is Islam. The punishment in countries like Saudi Arabia for being a homosexual is death.

Here in the US, which is mostly Christian, the sentiment among a significant amount of Christians is "we need to cure the homosexuals". You don't cure the person you hate. The majority of Christians see homosexuality as a sin equal to heterosexual intercourse outside of marriage. Part of the mantra, "all sins are equal in God's eyes."

I go to a Christian church. About a year or go or so, the pastor was talking about the role of tragedy in God's plan. First, he told the story of losing his wife to cancer. Next, he told the story of one of the church's deacons who lost his son to illness. After his son finished college he moved off to Europe to live. About four years later, he called his parents and told them he was gay and was dying of AIDS. His parents were able to get him to move home so they could care for him and be with him as much as possible. Towards the very end, he needed to be moved to a hospice facility that could handle all the complications that required nearly around the clock care. At the hospice, he saw others whose parents weren't there for them due to the family issues of a gay son. His father, the Deacon, decided that it was his calling to try and work on reconciling AIDS patients in that situation with their parents. The deacon has been doing it for over ten years and has reunited a couple hundred families prior to the patients succumbing to the disease. Not much hate there.

Actually, if you look at the US, it seems that the biggest factor in "hating" gays comes from the macho belief, not the religious one.

If you look at it through a racial/ethnic lens, you'd notice that homosexuals are hated most by black and Hispanics. (This can actually be quantified when you look at the voting demographics on gay marriage issues. Blacks and Hispanics are the two largest demographic groups voting against "gay rights" issues.) When you hear or read about gays being assaulted here in the US, it's usually a group of "macho" men not a Sunday school group who runs into a gay person at lunch after service.

But, I'm sure you're pretty set on focusing on the religious angle as part of your crusade against religion.

BTW, so there is no confusion, I don't believe homosexuality is a disease, I believe God made gay people gay, and being gay won't keep you out of Heaven.
