Repent, the end is nigh. It is written that in the end times the great beast of the north will disappear. Those brave believers who set out to spread the great word will get caught up in their icy ventures. All because the doubters will not heed the word of the big one sent to warn them and will refuse to massively fund the programs that would allow them to continue on in their evil ways.
I saw a Nova episode last night about the volcanoes on Iceland, and the effects they have had on world climate in the past, and the likelihood of it happening again (VERY likely).
It seems to be a tossup whether the sulfur dioxide that would combine with the water vapor to create sulfuric acid and kill people and plants as it did in 1783 or the ash cloud which would create an artificial winter would be the worst. Either way, when one of those Icelandic super-volcanoes erupts, it will have severe effects on the climate of the entire Northern Hemisphere. In fact, the worst of them has been swelling up, according to the scientists.
The bottom line is, "Global Warming" may be the very LEAST of the problems this old world is about to throw at us!
And: given all of the efforts of all of the puny humans and their footprint upon this planet to either exacerbate or remedy greenhouse effect, it all pales into an insignificant .0000....% comparator when just one of these active volcanos has even a minor event.
At least I understand the difference between 'world', 'global', and localized examples.
So when it's abnormally cold in north America, that's just weather, but when it's warm in the Arctic, that's proof of man-made global warming, do to the manifestation of the effects from the 0.000400% CO2 in the atmosphere.
Seriously? You're comparing the US to the entire world. WHY is what happens in the US more important than what happens in the entire world?
As climate changes, some areas will get colder while others get hotter. Global warming does not mean that every spot on earth increases temperature. Global warming will impact weather patterns that very well could cause some areas to become colder while others become warmer. Here in the US we get colder when the jet stream troth dips. Change weather patterns and you can cause it to dip. That, however, doesn't mean the entire world is getting colder. The big question is what is happening to the entire planet, especially the poles. The US could freeze over but that wouldn't matter. The planet is much bigger than just the US.
So the poles are "more important than what happens in the entire world?"

It's whether you look at one country or the entire earth. When it comes to "global" warming, it makes zero sense to look at just one country (the US I think but I didn't pay attention because looking at one country is just ignorant).
The alarmist scientists recently admitted all their data, computer models and predictions have been off by 75% and admitted, that while doom is still imminent, the earth is warming at much slower rates than they thought. This article linked also claims scientific predictions were way off, but on the other end of the spectrum. One thing is certain, none of these past predictions were accurate and I have little faith that future predictions are right either. The "Hockey Stick" was wrong. Al Gore was wrong when he said the polar ice caps would be melted by 2012-2013 (he won a Nobel Peace Prize for it). There are many legitimate scientists claiming we're heading into a mini-Ice Age now. We saw almost 1,000 record cold temperatures in the US last year. I don't have all the answers but it's also clear the alarmist scientists don't either. Maybe it's time to have a scientific debate and allow all those dissenting scientists to present their findings? Nahhhh...too much money in predicting doom for profit.
We'll trade carbon credits on Wall Street.

I know, 3000 years ago, Egypt and the now Sahara were lush green landscaping.
5000 years ago North America was a ¼ ice sheet.
Russia and northern Europe, have seen colder and colder winters since they found the north pole to be moving.
Today we have scientists stuck in ice that is not suppose to be there.
