Then where should non religious people get married? Also marriage is just a legal contract binding two people. The government giving benefits to married couples isn't the same as issuing legal binding contracts.
Wherever they want? I'll dress up like a priest and marry you, 20 bucks, no problem.

Why would a non religious person want you t dress up as a priest? My wife and I had a good friend of ours marry us, and we filed for our marriage license in Oregon so we are legally bound.
Oh the persecution! Are you being told that you MUST marry multiple people or you MUST marry someone of the same sex? I don't believe you are. Why are cons such a bunch of Henny Penny's?
You might consider this about polygamy from the Wiki link:
Polygyny, the practice of one husband taking multiple wives, has been condemned as a form of human rights abuse. Many international human rights organisations, as well as women's rights groups in many countries, have called for its abolition.[1][2] In 2000, the United Nations Human Rights Committee considered polygamy (probably limited to polygyny) a violation of the internationally binding International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) on the grounds that it violates the dignity of women, and recommended it be made illegal in all states.[3][4][5]
People who think polygamy is all fun and games should investigate it a little further.
This isn't a tax thread. But the IRS still is needed, regardless. When you claim to earn $100,000 and pay $15,000, someone has to verify you actually one earned $100,000 and not $500,000.
The IRS wouldn't need to be nearly as big.
That being said, while I agree with ivory's ideas on taxes, I don't agree that the government shouldn't recognize marriages.
I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want one wife,(or husband) much less several, but hey, more power to you. I actually don't care if you want to marry your goat.
