This question is only for people who don't support a homosexual lifestyle:
If for religious, moral or ethical reasons you are against people who live a homosexual lifestyle, what do you think about public figures who publically announce to the world that they are gay or lesbian? Please take the poll and discuss your answers.
PLEASE! This is not meant to be an anti gay, homophobic or, general discussion about homosexuality. Instead, it is just a discussion/poll about celebrities who announce to the world publically through the media they are gay or lesbian.
If you support gay rights and feel that in the year 2014 a homosexual lifestyle is fine, please don't reply.
I was thinking of Robin Roberts of the Good Morning America Show on ABC.
Does anyone need to know she is a lesbian?
Robin did not announce she was a lesbian. She did what millions of other people do and thanked her girlfriend for her support during her cancer treatment.
Are you opposed to heterosexuals thanking their girl/boy friends, or spouses publicly? If not, why would it be any different for a homosexual?
Gay kids struggling with accepting their sexuality need strong, positive, gay role models. I commend any and every gay celebrity who comes out of the closet for making a positive impact in the lives of kids.

If you are morally against homosexuality you don't want kids who think they are gay looking up to someone who has a gay lifestyle and that morality.
I am so proud of people like Robin Roberts and their courage to show the world who they love only makes me want to watch them on TV even more!
I have noticed and am happy to see that black gay celebrities are leading the charge on this. It shows their bravery and the diversity of the GLBT community and these people serve as positive role models for young Americans of all races and sexualities.

Gay kids need some role models. I commend those celebrities to come out.
Thanks to them, it has become easier and easier for younger generations to accept their identity.
So instead hiding their identities, trying to get married the opposite sex, breaking their husbands / wives's hearts, divorcing and coming out, they just choose not to go through those stages and accept their own identity from the very beginning.
Robin Roberts did not come out of closet. She just thanked her girlfriend among her family and friends for supporting her during her difficult time - exactly what straight celebrities do all the time. It is the media who made it such a big deal.
And it is not a lifestyle. Do you ever choose to be straight?
This reminds me of an incident happened in Barnes and Nobles 2 weeks ago. Some older folks (in their 50s-60s), who decided not to change their way of archaic thinking were talking about this gay "lifestyle". I was so offended that I had to move my table.
What anyone does, is none of my business. If you wish to do that, it does not harm me.
Just don't ask me and then force me to participate, or perpetuate.
Why announce it to the world and make it everyone's business?

I don't watch her show. In this case the media is partly to blame because they post the headlines that state she came out. Which as you say, is simply not true and was just thanking her girlfriend .
