When one decides it does.

Unfortunately, the poll doesn't quite reach the age that might happen.

I'm 27 now and certainly don't think I'll suddenly feel old at 30. The 30's should be your prime years IMO.

I remainded physically strong until about 45, when I felt age start creeping in. At 58 (now) I certainly feel young, mentally, but I now recognize my physical limitations. I guess developing Type I diabetes around age 45 did not help.

My mother is 86 and still extremely active. Her uncle lived to 98: it was January of 2002; he was leaving his favorate bar at 2 a.m., to walk back to his apartment close by. He slipped on ice, and was not discovered for a couple of hours. He was then taken to the hospital. I visited him that next evening, and he seemed to be doing well and was in his usual good spirits. The next morning, he walked into the bathroom of his hospital room, sat on the toilet, and simply died.

All true. My great uncle enjoyed life, including going to his favorite bar to drink (which he started in earnest after his wife died some 20 years previously) and dance till all hours. He told me several times that the secret to his long life was a banana every day, which he said he started as a youth. He also liked cigars. He was a character (a street here in Fort Worth is named after his family). He had an open mind (as my mother does) which I believe prevents 'hardening of the thought process'.

Age 16 you are an adult. 14 if you are exceptional. Thomas Edison was on his own and supported himself by selling newspapers on trains at age 12.

Why should the spirit of youth ever end? Life is too short to waste any of it!
