without (really) selling out. Ride Along was #1 at the box office for the 3rd straight week in a row. I'm sure that means a lot of non blacks are seeing this movie. (I'm waiting until it comes to video.)
kevin hart is whats driving people to the box office. cube had a supporting role.
anything hart touches is turning into gold right now.
yeah, Hart is the man right now, though Grudge Match didn't do as well, but Cube has had a pretty stable Hollywood career for a while. do you think people overlook his militant past or just don't know?
*when I use militant I mean how others may view his music from back in the day.
The same way Ice T is now more acceptable. Aging gangster rappers don't exactly instill fear. Especially when they no longer put out music and turn their focus toward Hollywood.
And, as others have mentioned, Kevin Hart is on fire right now. He's the black Dane Cook for young white audiences.
Lots of white people listen to Hip Hop. Many like Ice Cube.
I recently got into some Trampled by Turtles (Progressive Bluegrass) and I'm black.
Don't really understand how the topic is controversial.
yes, lots of white people like hip hop, but Ice Cube had a very pro black, some would see as anti white, message on his early solo albums. if the songs in the OP came out this year, Fox news would probably be all over it.
ps I am also a black person and I primarily listen to alternative/indie. you're not a unicorn. lol

yeah, but Ice T sold out. him and that plastic wife of his are a circus side show.

Get what your saying now
I wish more rappers would address certain issues like they did back in the day.
Ice Cube was very anti establishment back in the day. With his longevity and accrued wealth in the entertainment industry maybe he doesn't face the same experiences that made him so militant back then as to make him feel the need or urgency to address such issues.
