Cinco de Mayo is another excuse to take out the office hotties to happy-3-hour and get them throroughly hot and soused for sex later. Of course, the next day they can just say they lost it due to the alcohol. Win-win all around.

Cinco de Mayo is not a holiday. Kids don't get the day off school. Banks and the post office don't close.

It's a fun day to wear a funny hat and drink way too much Tequila.

Arriba...Arriba!

That is okay, because Saint Patrick's Day is not a holiday either. Kids do not get the day off school. Banks and post offices do not close.

I grew up in NYC and if St Paddy's Day fell on Mon-Fri we got to stay home from school and go to the parade.
Family is Irish and Irish decent with a major get together for dinner after the parade where various family members marched with their county.

I never said the day was not celebrated. I said it was not a holiday.
"Saint Patrick's Day, although only a legal holiday in Suffolk County, Massachusetts (where it is recognized alongside Evacuation Day) and Chatham County, Georgia, is nonetheless widely recognized and celebrated throughout the United States." --- Saint Patrick's Day in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So while Saint Patrick's Day is certainly a big deal in New York City, or Buffalo, or a wide variety of other cities and towns, there are only two counties in the entire US that recognize the day as an official holiday.

Excellent point--and I think everyone knows the answer.

In Alaska we have the Moose Dropping Festival during July. Kids do not get the day off school. Banks and post offices do not close.

It is a fun day to wear a funny hat and drink way too much Moose Drool.

So what's your point? You are the one who said St Pat was a legitimate holiday while Cinco is a made up holiday. Neither are holidays.
