This is how the future will look across the US in a decade or so.
The upper and lower classes hate the middle class and are in the process of destroying them. At some point, the rich will tire of paying for everything to keep the 'useless eaters' alive. They will use their global warming religion to rationalize culling the population. I give it 15 years max.
The true decline of California dates from Howard Jarvis and Proposition 13. The Golden State has never recovered.
I think Prop 13 is bad for California. But you should blame the reason for Prop 13's existence, not Prop 13 itself. California's abuse of property taxes led to Prop 13. The solution was wrong. And it will likely forever tie the hands of CA legislators. But they caused the problem in the first place.
And -- let me guess -- the solution is to reduce taxes on the rich (of whom California has an enormous abundance) and increase them on the poor. To you cons, the real problem with income inequality is that there isn't enough of it.
Actually, the real solution is for liberals like yourself to stop passing legislation that creates more poor people and keeps already poor people poor indefinitely.

And which legislation would that be?
You cons are the ones who want to cut benefits, freeze wages, and increase taxes on the poor. How does that help them exactly?
If only there were some way to take some of that wealth and spread it around a little. But of course that would involve "unfair" levels of taxation on the .01% -- excuse me, I mean "job creators."

It teaches them self-reliancy! Just another second or third minimum wage job with no benefits is all it will take! Geez...
