Hey I thought illegal immigration destroyed jobs and economies. There is no state more welcoming to illegals than Texas.

Don't tech companies bring liberal voters with them? Is this something conservative Texans want to be supporting?

Texas sent LBJ and Barbara Jordan to Congress. Not everybody is a doofus like Rick Perry.

Yes! Texas needs a little blue. Have you seen the infrastructure there? The poor planning abs zoning? Public spaces need developing and the state could use some better social programs. All in moderation of course. Texas shouldn't be CA and CA not Texas.

It doesn't seem like liberals are smart enough to realize that the majority of the people who get hired are from right here in TX and are already educated, skilled workers.

Austin is awesome. I have friends there. A physicist moved into our neighborhood. The first words out of their mouths was not "hook 'em Horns".

Read carefully. It is manufacturing that exceeded CA. That is best served by workers who demand and get little from the bosses. California still leads by a large margin when it comes to intellectual exports like software systems and technological innovation. I don't see those kind of people fleeing to Texas anytime soon. They have it pretty good in the Bay area and the PNW. On the other hand, RTP succeeded in pulling the high tech industry out of Mass. a few decades ago. We'll see.

Can't say I'm surprised. The insane costs of living and doing business in California is forcing people out of that state in droves.[/QUOTE]

Really?

Then how come California led the nation in the number of new jobs created in 2013? ( Texas was #2)

States Adding Jobs the Most Jobs in 2013

I know, I know... "Get outa here with your facts wise guy! We're trying to have FUN in this thread"...

Living conditions in Texas don't begin to compare with those in most of California. You'd have to pay a LOT more to get anyone who had a choice to move. Texas is more appropriate for beef herds and oil tankers. T. Boone Pickens, not Mark Zuckerberg.

You've clearly never been forced to drive through Pasadena or San Bernardino. Nobody, and I mean nobody is stupid enough to believe that all of CA is beautiful, million dollar townhomes in SF. Realistically the overwhelming majority of the people here on CD who boast about how great CA is will never get any closer to those places than the front gate. Most are just cramped apartment dwelling trash who are angry at life and are envious of people who have enough space to have a kitchen AND and living space that aren't the same space.
