Saw a political cartoon once, that came out when politicians were debating tax relief.

A guy (presumably a taxpayer) is trudging up a steep hill, carrying a rotund Uncle Sam on his back, who probably weighs a couple hundred pounds or more. Sweat is pouring from the citizen's brow.

Behind them, another guy is holding Uncle Sam's coattails, which probably weigh about 8 ounces, tops.

The first guy says, "Whew! How about if we take a short break?"

The second one replies, "No way! That would benefit you more than me!"

A lot is dependent on the amount of income, source of income, local property tax rate, etc. Paying 50% or more of their income in taxes is not unusual for higher income earners who live in a highly taxed area.

A "fair share" of taxes is a share that makes the liberals feel they shouldn't demand any more from that taxpayer.

In other words, there is NO "fair share" of taxes.

Ummm yeah Urban, that's what progressive tax systems do, some people pay a higher percentage than others.

You know that "The more you make, the more they take" thing you might have heard of?

Except that our tax structure, the more you make, the less they take when you make enough to basically write the tax structure.

the very wealthy should be high taxes. It costs a lot to have the military we do and all the military bases around the world. We're still spending billions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Someone has to pay for that.

Yep...that is the thing to do.

We are not taxed on what we make.......

We are taxed on what we keep.

He cuts his taxable income because he is just a landlord and his income isn't an earned income, therefore he gets taxed at less than 15%. Being a landlord is an easy way to make money with little work required.
