Assuming that these U.S. states conducted genuinely free and fair referendums which showed that a majority of their voters would like to secede.

As for me, I voted Yes, since I support the concept of self-determination.

For the record, I am obviously asking about this from the perspective of morality, not from the perspective of legality.

Sorry. It cost 600,000 lives 150 years ago to determine that this can't be done.

its like asking a kid with IQ of 45 if he wants to live on his own, and not in his parents house.

Any state that wants to leave, is probably too stupid to be trusted to the decision anyway.

No, not only is it a bad economic idea, but its also anti American as it would drive separation between people. It would take us back as a society.

I do believe in state rights however, no not like slavery that some silly liberals will no doubt bring up (this is 2014, not 1850),but being able to set their own tax rates etc....

So you are saying that such U.S. states would be too stupid to make such a decision.

If so, couldn't this rationale also logically lead to justifying disenfranchising Americans who are too stupid, ignorant, and/or uneducated to make good decisions when it comes to voting?

1. And all of the economic policies which this country has passed were good economic ideas, right? (sarcasm)

2. In a sense, Yes, since the U.S. might be losing some of its territory.

3. But what if these people genuinely want to separate?

4. OK. I don't have a problem with this point of yours.
