Apparently foreigners appreciate the US more than many Americans do, but I guess that has always been the case because locals tend to focus on the negative as opposed to counting their blessings.
A dramatic surge in interest from wealthy Chinese is threatening to overwhelm a U.S. program offering investors green cards in exchange for cash.
The number of applicants is now so great that the government might run out of permits. Any foreigner willing to commit at least $500,000 and create 10 jobs in America can apply for an investor immigrant visa -- also known as an EB-5

Yes, so I heard. It may be easier to get an immigration visa to Canada than US. Either way, they are wealthy people and will spend money and pay tax in their new home countries.
Thanks for the info I was un aware of this program but after reading the story and thinking about it I think it is a excellent idea. Not too many good ideas come from our so called leaders but I like this one. I also like the fact that it is regulated and the agency is making sure the Chinese make good on their part of the deal. Our gvt should increase the permit process and bring the money and jobs to our shore.

The Immigrant Investor visa program has been around since the 1990s, but not many foreigners took advantage of it, but now with the Chinese boom, they are coming in in thousands.
The job creators from China are coming here, go figure.
I thought all our government control and regulations were stunting economic growth and causing millionaires to leave for other places.
People still see US as the land of opportunity. We have a lot of bitter locals who have failed to convert the opportunity into a dream, so they spend their time crying and complaining, but foreigners still see the opportunity and come to take their chances. This has always been the story of the US. Our taxes and regulations are non-existent compared to other countries, so for them this is like economic wild west. It is too bad Americans don't see it the same way, because if they did, they'd spend less time complaining, and more time building their dreams.

I agree, tremendous opportunity here compared to other countries immigration of millionaires from China is a rather large statement that reinforces our overall quality of life and economic opportunity.
Well Americans don't have money to invest so why not let the Chinese in ?
Over 75% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.
We're a debt ridden nation and the vultures are circling !
