Why is it so hard for you to comprehend that Republicans voted in greater percentages for the Civil Rights Act then did Democrats/
Because there was more North Republicans than there were Southern Republicans, yet almost no Southern Politician voted in favor of the Civil Rights Act....why do you ignore that obvious fact?
Even though Democrats were in the majority in both houses, they would not have been able to pass it at all, unless such large majorities of Republicans also voted to pass. Fortunately the Republicans came through and saved the bill from the defeat Democrats alone would have given it.
Democrats have always supported racism. From their founding of the KKK, to their current majority membership in it, to the majority support of racist legislation in Congress even today.
If I were a Democrat, I'd try to fake as many excuses for not associating racism with Democrats as I could, just as the leftists in this thread do. The truth is just too painful for Democrats... as usual.
Except that, today, it is the Democrats who make laws based on the idea that black people can't make it in life without massive "help" from government... where whites don't need any such help. If anything, Democrats' racism has increased since the 1960s.

More importantly: racist southerners switched to the Republican party when they found it aligned more closely with their views.
Of course they support it. They create it and then benefit from it.
Just like now, they don't really giveresults of n about high unemployment rates of inner city black youth and the results of it, they will exploit it while at the same time insisting that the borders remain unenforced so they can have cheap labor and then they also pander to the illegals and tell them that anyone against billions of impoverished people coming to take jobs for very little pay or coming to get government handouts is just a racist.

False, southerners were against the Civil Rights Act.
