No thanks. I prefer to read peer-reviewed published studies based on evidence, not anti-gay religious propaganda based ignorance and prejudice.
In other words you prefer to remain closed minded and willfully ignorant.
Peer review just means that a bunch of people who think exactly the same got together and put their collective stamp of approval on a propagandist study.
LOL... The world's largest Man-Boy love cult only allows CLOSETED priests!
Huh, for some reason this post is allowed, but my reply to it wasn't. That's pretty odd. I guess this constitutes "being on topic." (I.E., you can bust on the Church, but not homosexuals.)
I have never heard of gay mafia or focus on the family before, but I am curious why promoting traditional family values is perceived as "dehumanizing" homosexuals.
I was responding to a poster who claimed "Homosexuals are defined by one thing and that is having sex with the same sex."
Gay and lesbian people are not 'defined' by having sex.
Anti-gay religious groups like Focus on the Family, only seem to focus on sex when it comes to gay and lesbian people. It's a way of dehumanising them.
They ignore that gay and lesbian people have families too. That gay and lesbian people have loving relationships, have children, have friends, have careers, have dreams etc and have full lives just as straight people do.
Straight people are not "defined" by one thing (having sex), and neither are gay and lesbian people.
Yep. Several of mine were deleted. They want us to be quiet...don't give them the satisfaction of thinking they will win or are winning simply because their allies here are the power brokers.
This is the part that some people saw as offensive. SHE may need those gender roles, but not everyone sees it as she does.
She is welcome to her opinon and others are welcome to theirs.
Right - and she took it a step further in her next sentence "That's how relationships work". That may be how some relationships work, but it's certainly not the basis of all successful working relationships, which is the implication.
I do agree that the traditional female roles of mother, homemaker, nurturer are undervalued, especially compared to the value of a paycheck.
A typical casual exchange among people meeting for first time:
-So, what do you do?
"Well, I haven't worked outside the home since my second child was born."
-I could never do that. I need to stimulate my brain. What do you DO all day? Does it bother you that you're not using your college degree?
But her comments veered off that path and went more into "You Tarzan, Me Jane" territory with the sometimes you need a man to be a man comment. As if the Marlboro Man is the only model for a Real Man.
Both ends of that spectrum - devaluing traditional gender roles and placing too much emphasis on them - drive me nuts.
Homosexuality is sin. It has no place in a church, and no person in any position of authority who has been "outed" as homosexual should be allowed to remain.
What's you problem?
According to your god, all sins are created equal, and your churches are filled with sinners. Thowing a gay person out of a chuch, won't make a church free of sinners. Have you heard the good news, we don't live in a theocracy, and being gay is not a crime.
