No it has everything to do with costs, this is a carrot on a stick. 10 years from now when the feds pull the rug out from under the states that went along with this then come tell me what a great idea it was.

This 32-Year-Old Florida Woman Is Dead Because Her State Refused To Expand Medicaid | ThinkProgress

This woman had a chronic health condition, and worked three jobs trying to get by on $11,000 per year. Clearly she was lazy and entitled. Nice job, conservatives.
The bigger question is where where YOU when all this was happening?

Obviously you were far more busy and occupied getting your Starbucks Latte' than helping out a poor women with health issues by opening YOUR wallet just to give her the price of a Latte.

Greedy people, people just like you, is what is killing this country! Don't you have any compassion for your fellow man?

If this was such a great idea the Democrats could have funded the expansion entirely through the Federal government, why would they let people die?

They didn't exactly have a choice in the matter the rightwing activists on the SCOTUS forced it.

They didn't make it optional. They illegally made it mandatory and the Supreme Court slapped them down. They should have written the law in compliance with the Constitution.

The Dems had total control and could have passed whatever they wanted. Any faults with this law are squarely on the shoulders of the Democrats.

The article said the woman was working 3 jobs and making about $9,000 a year. How is that even possible? 30 hours a week at one minimum wage job is several thousand more than that.
Seems there is a lot to this story that ThPo isn't including.

But....but....why didn't she just go to the ER? Isn't that what I keep hearing from the right? "Everyone has healthcare. Just show up at the ER".
She had a heart condition. Where are the apologists who are always babbling about the ER as healthcare?

Hmmm

she made 11k or less...which means she FULLY QUALIFIED for FULL medicaid (government care)

an 'expansion' or lack there of medicaid has zero to do with her death
