I still don't understand how someone can have 3 jobs and make only $9,000 per year (according to the article). Seems like a lot of details are missing.

Where did I say that the ER is a replacement for healthcare? I didn't. What I said is that an emergency room is still required to treat you, irrespective of your ability to pay.
I agree that Obamacare shouldn't have made the Medicaid expansion optional, since many red states would clearly rather have their residents die than let them be helped by anything related to Obamacare.
Obamacare didn't make Medicaid expansion optional. When the law first passed it was mandatory and the Supreme Court correctly ruled that was unconstitutional.

Um, Medicaid wasn't supposed to be optional until the supreme court struck down the provision making medicaid expansion mandatory and instead made it optional. Just face it, political grandstanding by the Republicans did cost this woman her life. You have no one to blame besides Republicans for this folly
You're right. I couldn't care any less. She procrastinated and didn't do the leg work necessary to get herself covered. Now she's dead. Oh well..Sucks to be her.
If you had read the article she TRIED to sign up using the fed site and she fell in between the cracks of making to much for the regular medicaid and to little for the fed to help so it was up to the state to help with the expansion which they didn't want. Republicans are a sick breed. truly.
